Rikkita Roxanne OAJ OAC-V RV-O NA NJC-V CGC 2/3
EAC-V, 1/3 PDI
8/19/90 - 4/18/00
Roxanne was 7 years old when I discovered agility. She would
come to class with my husband while I was training my younger Akita, Jessie and
pound her feet on the ground, saying "let me do it! I will show you how
it's done!" So, I enrolled her in a beginner's class and she took to it
like a fish to water. Six months after she started she had her first legs in AKC
novice. She had her first title before her first year of training was over.
Last year, between the ages of 8 and 9 Roxanne finished several titles, she had
20 Elite NADAC points, her last NADAC run ever, was her very best, she made time
for a 10 point Elite Q. I was so proud of her! In Nov, she became only the
second, the first female, and the oldest Akita to finish an AKC Open Jumper
title.
But, it was not only her agility accomplishments that made me proud of her. She
was an ambassador for her breed. She was gentle with people and other dogs, she
had an awesome temperament and work ethic, so rarely found in dogs of her breed.
Roxy made me proud every day of her life, even in the end, when she calmly and
with dignity endured Chemo treatments that allowed us 3 more months with her
after a diagnosis of Leukemia.
I love and miss her, she was a proud awesome dog who's memory will live on
forever in all she accomplished in her life which was tragically cut short by
cancer. Roxy, I love you, I would have never missed the dance.
