Each organization has their own requirements for becoming a judge. The contact information for each is listed on the organizations page.

AKC: To become an approved AKC Agility Judge a candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Have an AKC AX and AXJ title and 4 years of Agility competition experience, or Have an AKC MX and MXJ title and 3 years of Agility competition experience.
  • Have Timed and Scribed at a Licensed or Member AKC Agility Trial.
  • Have worked at the scorekeepers table at a Licensed or Member AKC Agility Trial.
  • Attend a 3-day Judges Seminar and pass all 7 tests.
  • Judge a Sanctioned A Match successfully.
  • Be in good standing with the AKC.

Provisional AKC Agility judges are supervised by AKC Agility Field Reps., for a minimum of 2 judging assignments. Judges must re-certify every 3 years by attending a two day AKC Agility Continuing Ed clinic.

USDAA: To become an approved USDAA Agility Judge each candidate must meet the following requirements.

  • Be a current member of USDAA
  • Have sufficient experience to competently perform judging duties.
  • Attend and pass a USDAA judging clinic.
  • Be of good character.

Provisional USDAA Agility judges are supervised at 5 judging assignments by USDAA approved Supervising Judges.

NADAC:

  • Compete at the Elite level for several years.
  • Attend and pass a NADAC Agility judges seminar.

Provisional NADAC judges are supervised for a minimum of 1 year or 4 judging assignments, whichever is longest. Judges must re-certify every 18 months.
