Zipper VII NA AXJ
Zipper started agility late in life. After she finished her NA title, she had an eye CERF exam, and I learned that she was blind in one eye. She didn't want to retire, so I decided to let her continue to run in JWW only. After getting 2 legs towards her OAJ, she lost sight in the other eye and was completely blind. Much to my surprise, after a long and painful bought with hyphema, glaucoma, and the worst melting corneal ulcer I've ever seen, she recovered some vision in one eye. Late in 1999 I let her try some agility and she was thrilled to get to play again. She started trialing in JWW again in the spring of 2000, and finished her OAJ and AXJ titles. I never thought she would see again, much less do agility and finish titles. After all she went through, and with limited sight through a scarred cornea, she would give her all for me on the agility course. Zipper competed in obedience for the first time at the 2000 Shih Tzu National Specialty and won High in Trial. She got her first MXJ leg in June of 2000. She died suddenly of hemangiosarcoma cancer in August 2000.
